The three-element catalytic converter is a ceramic filter device shaped like "honeycomb coal".

It is installed in the front exhaust pipe of the engine exhaust system.

Now all the cars are equipped with three-yuan catalytic converters.

This device greatly reduces the pollutant in the emission. It is used in conjunction with the oxygen sensor, effectively reduces the fuel consumption and improves the economic performance of the car.

Under normal conditions, its useful life is about 80,000 kilometers.

Because the working requirements of three-effect catalytic converters are strict, the early failure and even damage of catalytic converters will be caused if they are not used properly.

Ternary catalytic converter early invalidation reasons can be summarized the following points: the temperature is too high Room temperature ternary catalytic converter does not have ability, the catalyst must be heated to a certain temperature to has the ability of oxidation or reduction, usually catalytic converter light-off temperature at 250 ℃, 250 normal working temperature is in commonly 350 to 700 ℃.

Catalytic converter would produce a lot of work since the quantity is higher, the oxidation of the higher the temperature, when the temperature exceeds 850 ℃, 850 inside coating catalyst is likely to fall off, carrier fracture.

So must pay attention to control exhaust temperature rise caused by various factors, such as ignition time is too late or firing order confusion, fire, etc., caused by the exhaust temperature is too high, influence the efficiency of catalytic converter.

Chronic poisoning of catalyst for sulfur, elements such as lead, zinc phosphate, very sensitive, sulfur and lead from gasoline, phosphorus and zinc from the lubricating oil, the four kinds of substances and their formed after combustion in engine oxide particles are easily adsorbed on the surface of the catalyst, the catalyst can't contact with the waste gas, thus lost the catalysis, the so-called "poisoning" phenomenon.
