Other definitions of catalysts

There is also a saying that catalysts participate in chemical reactions. In a chemical reaction, the catalyst effect is to reduce the reaction activation energy required, is essentially a difficult reaction into two easy chemical reactions (called inhibitors instead). In the two reaction catalyst, the first reaction plays a role of reactant, catalyst second reaction product plays a role, so that the total from the reaction equation of point of view, there is no change in the catalyst before and after reaction.

Generally speaking, a catalyst is a substance that participates in the intermediate course of chemical reaction and selectively changes the rate of chemical reaction, while its quantity and chemical properties remain unchanged before and after the reaction. The catalyst is usually used to accelerate the chemical reaction, and the action of chemical equilibrium as soon as possible is called catalysis, but it does not change the equilibrium of reaction.
